Why Hire a Caddie?

There is simply no better way to experience an authentic day’s golf at Royal Portrush than to hire one of our experienced caddies to guide you around the course.

Our team have caddied countless rounds and their wealth of knowledge is crucial in helping you conquer the many risk and reward tee shots, challenging approach shots and subtly contoured greens.

Not only will our caddie guide you around the course, they can also provide great stories of the history, people, and traditions of this famous Club.

As many of our caddies are from the local area, they will be able to give you an insight into the history of the wider community and advice on places to visit to get a feel for Portrush.

What Does a Caddie Add to Your Experience?

  • Courteous and helpful
  • Genuinely interested in your golfing experience at Royal Portrush
  • Will attend the flag as requested
  • Will repair divot marks and rake bunkers
  • Will keep your clubs clean and dry
  • Will do their best to mark balls hit off the fairway
  • Will give accurate distances to the flag
  • Will give lines when putting
  • Assist with the pace of play

How to reserve a Caddie

If you would like to request a caddie and for additional information, please contact our Golf Operations Manager (golfops@royalportrushgolfclub.com) or contact the office on 028 7082 2311.

Please note that all our caddies are self-employed and therefore no guarantee can be given as to availability. If a caddie has been requested and is available, they will be allocated to the player by the starter.

Our aim will be to provide one caddie for each player but at busy times when demand is high, we may have to ask one caddie to carry two bags.

Royal Portrush Golf Club reserve the right to allocate a fore-caddie or an individual caddie to individuals/groups booked in morning times that have NOT pre-booked a caddie.

Golf Clubs

Whether you choose to travel without your clubs or your clubs are delayed in transit, we have a broad selection of current models for both men and women from leading manufacturers such as Titleist, TaylorMade and Callaway to choose from.

Please contact the Professional staff to reserve your preferred set.

Electric Trolleys

We have a large fleet of the latest Powakaddy trolleys for hire.
All of our electric trollies are equipped with GPS so no matter where you find yourself on the links, these will provide you with yardages to the front, middle and back of the greens.

Booking in advance is not always necessary but we would recommend it.

Pull Trolleys

We have a plentiful supply of lightweight manual aluminium pull trolleys also available. No prebooking is required.

Golf Carts

Both of our links are walking courses. However, for disabled golfers or those who have a medical condition, we can arrange a cart for your round.

Due to the terrain and the frequent changes of elevation on our links, we will arrange for one of our senior caddies to both drive the cart and advise you during your round.

The golfer must produce a medical note and sign a disclaimer prior to their round.
For further details please contact our tee reservations department.
