The open

The return of The Open to Royal Portrush in 2019 after a gap of 68 years was a momentous occasion for the Club, the town of Portrush and Northern Ireland.  It was the culmination of a process started in 2006 by the Club to pursue the hosting of Championships.  Over 237,500 spectators attended the event during the week, making it the second largest attended Open in history.

Irishman Shane Lowry was crowned Champion Golfer with a four round total of 269. He mastered the challenging conditions of the Dunluce Links to win the Championship by six shots.
